Transitional Tanning | Best Tan for Face and Body

It's that time of year again when we're starting to transition out of the winter uniform, gradually starting to show a little more flesh which is a terrifying prospect for those like me who's skin hasn't seen the light of day for a good four months. Struggling to pull off the 'pale and interesting' look, turning to some trusted products for some extra help to bring my skin back to life is made easy with these. Managing to avoid the Miss Hawaiian Tropic faux pas is usually at the top of my goals when it comes to tanning, along with the notorious streaky wrists and elbows. These are my go-tos when faced with above problem.

Origins x Skin That Blossoms Pop Up Florist

Getting that Friday feeling at the end of the week is made a whole lot easier in the presence of prosecco, skincare experts and floral arrangements. Transformed into a pop-up florist over the Mother's Day weekend and to celebrate the launch of the flower-power sheet masks, Origin's Cambridge store hosted two workshops on Friday afternoon in collaboration with VV Raven flowers. Skincare demonstrations, a workshop in flower arranging and mini-facials was a pretty dreamy way to spend a couple of hours after work and preceded an epic pizza at the Cambridge Punt Yard. The Cambridge store seems to be the hot-spot for Origins events, having attended the Madeline Shaw book launch a few months back (read about it here), you can only expect good things when you're there and they always go the extra mile to make it special. We took home a rustic bouqet of flowers (which smell absolutely wonderful) as the perfect gift for Mother's Day and a KissZing lip crayon which come in four beautiful shades.

Why You Should Know About Hyaluronic Acid

Considering we lather our face with these things day-in day-out, the ingredients of our beloved skincare go-to's lining the shelves of our bathroom are occasionally overlooked in the face of opting instead for on-point branding or celebrity recommendations, speaking for myself at least. This could be down to putting a lot of trust in the brands that we hand over our hard-earned pennies to in the promise of getting that glow, and ignoring the another-language-esque list of ingredients that is too mind-boggling to even try and get your head around without a stint of wikipedia-based research. One of the words you're likely to see in the realm of skincare right now is hyaluronic acid (HA); and it's magic lies in it's ability to benefit all skin types by replenishing that much-needed moisture we're all sadly lacking.

Night-Time Beauty

One of the most effective ways I have found to improve my sleeping pattern is undoubtedly keeping what I do before I try to sleep habitual in routine; keeping to the same times and tendencies each night to let my body know I'm winding down (and hopefully in return it will let me switch off). It's no revelation that sleep has typically been a battle for me more or less from when I started university, and dips of insomniac tendencies creep up on me now and again, usually aligned with stress or changing circumstances. Through the week, I'm relying heavily on routine to get me through early starts and full-on days as functioning without my seven hours would be near on impossible right now. Before slumping into bed (at the wild hour of 10pm), I've been gradually going through some trusted lotions and potions to start off on the right foot. Hopefully these recommendations will help any other night-owls out there.

Scandi Print Trend | Moodboard

I've been right through the spectrum of decorating over the last decade, from old-style wallpapering that couldn't shake off that out-dated look to stark walls that left the room feeling cold, no matter the season. Being a, typically, indecisive libra that decides, infact, red was not the right colour for her bedroom after all, as soon as she puts the paintbrush down, re-decorating is a never-ending cycle of not getting it quite right. I can't be the only one with this fickle tendency when it comes to decor, and I'm hoping (*praying for my sanity's sake) that it's something that I eventually grow out of (!). There's no pattern in existence that I'd be able to live with on the walls for a prolonged period of time without growing tired of it, so framed prints in the muchly-coveted scandi-style, changeable in their essence, is a trend that I can get on board with. Forever trying to perfect that balance within a room, especially a bedroom, that is simplistically stylish but has an essence of personality and warmth to it, look no further than the following.. and as you would with any project, I'm doing my research good and thorough.

It's not just the prints on the wall that I'm interested in; there's something about leaving prints propped up against the wall that has an artist's studio vibe; an un-done approach to a room that is effortlessly stylish - and in a word, goals. Until I get full creative liscence on a place of my own (owning rather than renting, when even the trivial use obluetack can be held against you..) this way is much more appealing. I'd have to do this, however, with tact, as my room is on the small side at the moment and with the concern of tripping over said prints before my eyes have adjusted in the morning is something to be aware of (hence, place carefully!) as no one enjoys a stubbed toe at 6am. Not only placement, but choice of design(s) is also a feat in itself. The only way I'm finding I can effectively narrow the reams of choices down is to look towards ones that truly reflect my interests, instincts and initial attractions. The source of my scrolling is, of course, the visual dynamite that is Desenio. With so many prints to lust after, how an indecisive being can make a decision on there is beyond me - check out their Inspiration page to soften your choices just that little bit. I'm also looking at getting some of my own photographs blown up (photographically, not literally) both for their sentimental value and, more importantly, to save the pennies.. intern's budget is truly kicking in! Snapfish and Photobox are great for this.

Watch this space for the final outcome!

Shoes of the Season | Knotted Mules Two Ways

The ankle-bearing seasons are quickly approaching; now we're in March (officially the beginning of Spring) and the weather is becoming noticeably milder, it's about time to release the grasp on our chunky boots, thick socks and anything remotely fleeced in exchange for attire adhering to the changing season. As the UK, in particular, tends to be a country of unpredictable and frankly quite annoying weather, we tend to dress for the worst whilst hoping for the best, and at least speaking for myself, tend to opt for the warmest option at any given opportunity just incase. Alas, this cycle can't go on forever and in a ode to starting to feel as though we're coming to the end of the colder months, my wardrobe is effectively adapting and first thing up is footwear. Mules are a shoe I've been on board with from the get-go; escaping the misery of uncomfortable heels and time-consuming straps, and instead being low maintenance and effortlessly stylish,  mules are speaking my sartorial language, and will be for the foreseeable future if they continue to look this good.

Topshop's latest offering comes in the form of a knotted, fabric-based, nautical pair that resembles the lusted-after designs of No21; at a fraction of the price. This pair will come into their own on those days where nothing seems to look right aside from black, head-to-toe, and inevitably you find yourself looking boring... a statement shoe instantly becomes your new best friend.

Trawling through the aisles of Primark all becomes worth it when you come across a pair of mules, this stylish yet under a tenner. Knotted, pointed and ever-so-flat (idyllic for those of us who cannot walk in heels no matter how hard we try), a go-to pair for the everyday. Slipping these flats on with a pair of jeans is an effortless way to pin down the trend.
